The pianist Albina Šikšniūtė is a graduate of the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts and the Moscow Conservatoire, where she studied under Professor L.Drąsutienė and Professor V.Nosov, respectively.  She has won prizes at international piano competitions in the Czech Republic (1977), France (1990) and International chamber music competition in Austria (2002).

Albina Šikšniūtė has given recitals and performed with chamber music ensembles and chamber orchestras from Vilnius, Prague, Moscow and Alma Ata, and also with the Lithuanian National symphonic orchestra. She has appeared in concert halls in Latvia, Russia, Slovenia, Poland, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Sweden and Japan. As a soloist and as a member of chamber music ensembles, she has participated at the international festivals such as Ost-West Musikfest (Austria), Korneuburger Musiksommer (Austria), Liubliana Summer festival (Slovenia), Sacrum non profanum Trezęsacz (Poland) and the Festival of Baltic countries teachers-performers (Latvia). In 1995 she recorded a CD of  the Bach’s Clavier Concertos with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Saulius Sondeckis. Since 1997 A.Šikšniūtė is a member of the Kaskados Piano Trio.

Šikšniūtė combines her concert activities with teaching at the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, where she is the Head of Piano, and at the Lithuanian Academy of Music. Her students have taken part and won prizes at numerous international piano competitions. A.Šikšniūtė is often invited as a member of the jury at various national and international piano competitions. Since 1991 she gives Summer Masterclasses for young pupils at the Ost-West Musikfest in Krems an der Donau and St.Poelten, Austria. At the same festival Albina has also performed several world premieres of piano compositions written by contemporary Austrian composers.
